She will gladly work with your group's music ministry in song selection to
enhance your event should you so desire.
Betty's current topics are listed below.
Extended Seminar Series
The following set of four topics make an excellent Retreat
or Seminar series. However, they may also be chosen as stand-alone
presentations.
- From Depression To Hope. Can a young woman who
seems to “have it all” become severely depressed? Betty shares openly
and compassionately about her feelings of hopelessness when she was
institutionalized for depression. She tells, through a clear
presentation of the Gospel, how God met her and led her from the
darkness into the light of His hope. This message encourages those
dealing with mental illness caused by chemical imbalances and educates
about depression in America.
- A New Heart. Because of sin, God allowed the
captivity of Israel and deportation to a foreign land. But Ezekiel 36
shows that God desires to redeem us and give us a new heart. Using the
life of Ezekiel, Betty shares her own struggles to be obedient to God
when life doesn’t go as planned. She shares God’s solutions and
forgiveness as He gives us a new heart.
- Choosing To Love God. God wants us to serve Him,
and we can obey or rebel. Betty shares how to grow to maturity and
prepare for ministry. Despite our hurt or rebellion, when we understand
God’s love for us we can recognize the privilege we have in being a part
of God’s actions on Earth.
- Glory To God. God’s viewpoint on our choice of
human-centered happiness or God-centered holiness is revealed in four
Old Testament passages examined in this topic. We see how God moves in
our lives and answers our prayers as He works to reveal His glory.
Individual Topics
- Circle of Support. Women are a vital support for
other women. Betty shows ways to encourage family and friends. She
reviews books and resources that enable you to reach out with
confidence.
- Mentoring Women. As we mature spiritually, it is
natural to disciple others. Betty shares from her experiences in
discipleship how to mentor, follow up, and teach other women how to
study the Bible on their own. She defines discipleship, gives practical
how-to’s and Scriptural help. Betty recommends books and resources.
- Giving Hope Through Your Story. Our
post-Christian culture is largely unfamiliar with Biblical truth and
each of us need to be able to explain our Christian world-view. This
practical seminar teaches how to write a 3-minute testimony, lead
someone to Jesus Christ, and how to incorporate evangelism into your
ministry.
- Connecting with Children. Children need role
models and it is a precious privledge for us to love, listen to, and
lead the children around us. Betty elucidates Jesus’ example of ministry
to children that built them into godly people of character.
- Creating Family Memories. Sharing family stories
contributes to family stability and good memories. Betty provides the
Biblical basis for the importance of building lasting memories with your
family and “shows and tells” how to create them.
- Communication For Close Encounters. A key
ingredient for good relationships is effective communication. Betty
teaches from the Bible how to speak, listen, and write to convey our
thoughts and feelings to those we love.
- Time Alone With God. As one who delights in her
devotional time, Betty addresses why we are to spend time with God.
Based on her years as manager of a Christian bookstore, Betty shares
tools, and recommends books and Bible translations. She describes how to
make your devotional life more interesting.
- Journey Through Hard Times. Christians benefit
from being transparent with each other in the midst of hard times.
Sharing from her own life, Betty reveals she did not like her response
to difficulties, but God used her weakness to show His plan to draw
Betty into a closer walk with Him. She encourages listeners by offering
God’s practical help through the painful times of growth and trials.
- Constant Change. Few people like change. In a
world of rapid change, we can be left feeling overwhelmed and afraid.
Standard techniques of preparing for expected changes, or facing
unpredictable changes head on, are not enough. Betty focuses on God’s
positive ways to reponds to change with hope.
- Called, Committed, and Challeged. Jeremiah is
known as the “Weeping Prophet” but as Betty parallels his life to
women’s stories we find hope in the midst of difficult circumstances.
This talk teaches how to know God personally (our call), how to be
obedient (our commitment), and how to serve God in our imperfect world
(our challenge).
- Well Done! Each believer wants to hear the Lord’s
commendation “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” We need God’s
view of life, an eternal perspective, in order to finish life well.
Betty encourages you to keep your eyes fixed on “Jesus, the author and
finisher of our faith,” and uses examples from the lives of Christians
who have finished well.
